Baines then admits he wants to unmask Batman and replace him if Batman ever retired or was disabled. When Baines tries to tear off the cowl, Batman unmasks him instead, dumps him in a gutter, and uses Baines’s skywriting machine to paint the counter-clue “His initials are B.B.” Baines flees to Capri. Batman tags the cultists with trace radiation at Baines’s penthouse and follows them to their island hideout. The Mamaloi Sorceress has her thug Rico dressed as Batman, bound beside Evans Aldrich, and sacrifices Rico to impress the cult. Batman rescues Aldrich, defeats the cultists and discredits the priestess.
