Key Facts: This is the final issue of the original Marvel Comics series, released as the "A Real American Hero" toy line was also being discontinued. Deviating from standard combat stories, the plot is a somber, non-violent reflection centered on a letter written by Snake-Eyes to Sean Collins, the son of his Vietnam War comrade Wade Collins. Snake-Eyes uses the letter to explain the harsh, unglamorous realities of war while the G.I. Joe team formally mothballs their headquarters, Pit III, in Utah. The issue concludes with a heartfelt farewell letter to the fans from series architect Larry Hama.
