The villains plan to use a death-star blaster to eliminate everyone in New York born under a specific zodiac sign as part of their world domination plot. The Avengers fight off the initial attack but pursue the Zodiac to the World Trade Center, where the villains threaten Mantis, forcing hesitation. The story continues into the next issue.
